Learning Disabilities:
Learning Disability includes the presence of a significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information, to learn new skills (impaired intelligence), with a reduced ability to cope independently (impaired social functioning). And is usually defined by having an IQ of 70 or below.

People with learning disabilities may hold inaccurate on incomplete knowledge around sexuality or inappropriate sexual relationships. This may lead a person with learning disabilities open to sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, or sexual trafficking.

Some of the population feel that people with learning Disabilities should not be able to have a sexual relationship, however, they have the right to respect for private and family life (article 8, Human Rights Act 1998).

I, as a psychosexual and relationship therapist would offer the person with a learning disability the sexual education/knowledge and tools to keep themselves safe around sex and relationships. I will also provide information in a manner they can understand and tailored to their needs.
